About

As part of my masterâ??s research at Purdue I was responsible for establishing and maintaining an aquatic toxicology laboratory. I examined the toxicology of pesticides that were granted U.S. E.P.A. Section 18 Emergency Exemption. It was my responsibility to develop methods that addressed the most pressing issues regarding the increased prevalence of these substances in the environment. In addition to managing large data sets, I was responsible for presenting results at professional conferences. I have received awards for poster presentations and I have been an invited platform presenter at professional meetings. My years in retail and hospital pharmacy taught me that I enjoy interacting with public health professionals and I continue to be an active member in several professional societies.

One of the things I enjoyed most about Purdue was participating as a member of the Epidemiology Group. Each week our tight-knit group of public health professionals would discuss one of our research projects or the ventures of our public health colleagues. Two years of these exciting interactions inspired me to pursue a career as a public health professional. It is my personal goal to use my passion for scientific enterprise as a tool for conducting responsible research, educating the public, and keeping informed about new scientific endeavors.
