The Healthcare Specialist provides emergency medical treatment, limited primary care, force health protection and evacuation in a variety of operational and clinical settings from point of injury or illness through the continuum of military health care.


Through extensive Army medical training, Army National Guard Healthcare Specialists are Soldiers able to provide our young fighting men and women first-rate health care as the war against terrorism continues. Healthcare Specialists in the Guard can also be found addressing the healthcare needs of civilians in the aftermath of natural disasters or civil emergencies. Settings in which work is performed range from state-of-the-art medical facilities to field hospitals and clinics serving underserved rural communities.


The Army National Guard is an elite group of warriors who dedicate a portion of their time to serving their nation. Guard members train part-time to be ready full-time, should their state or nation call them to serve.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED (If you do not have a diploma or GED, you may still apply  - ask a recruiter about how the Army National Guard can help you earn your GED)
  • Between the ages of 17 and 42
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
