REGISTERED NURSE

CSCC NRS 4W ACUTE CARE/ TRAUMA

 

The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Team Leader, Shift Supervisor, Clinical Coordinator, or Department Leader.   The Registered Nurse is accountable for all staff who provide and activities related to patient care.   He/she delegates, oversees and reviews the work of the licensed practical nurse and other assistive personnel. He/she must demonstrate sound judgment and leadership skills necessary to plan and direct the care of patients.   Must be clinically competent to deliver care to patients within the assigned department(s) utilizing the nursing process.   Must be able to perform satisfactorily the specific competencies as outlined by the department(s).   Must effectively interact with patients, families, physicians and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.     Must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient, customer, and employee satisfaction. May perform other duties as assigned.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (These are minimum qualifications for employment in this position.) 

  1. Education:   Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  2. Licensure:   Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida
  3. Experience:   None required if normally scheduled to work at least 40 hours per pay period.   (If STEP or PTD and normally scheduled to work less than 40 hours per pay period, must have minimum of one year full time experience in acute care hospital.)   Must be knowledgeable of the nursing process and its application to patient care.
  4. Skills:   Must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function; satisfactorily demonstrate required competencies in the care of patients, including age-specific competencies; read, listen and perform physician orders; accurately calculate medication dosages; use effective verbal and written communication skills; practice safe critical thinking skills and make appropriate judgments/decisions re: patient care.
