The Certified Enterostomy Therapist is responsible to Department Leader(s).   He/she works in a self-directed work team committed to a common purpose and goals.   The Certified Enterostomy Therapist works within the scope of nursing practice and provides patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.   His/her functions also include Perioperative planning.   He/she is responsible to practice within their scope of licensure in accordance with approved policies, procedures and protocols.   The Certified Enterostomy Therapist contributes to positive outcomes and meeting the cultural expectations of the organization by exhibiting professional behavior and clinical expertise.   He/she shares responsibility for all aspects of patient and team functions.   May perform other duties as assigned.                              

Job Specifications

1. Education:   Nursing Degree (AD, Diploma, B.S.N.) BSN preferred, Enterostomy Certification.
2. Licensure:   License to practice occupation in the State
3. Experience:   For required and/or preferred experience refer to job posting.   (If STEP or PTD and normally scheduled to work less than 40 hours per pay period, must have minimum of one year full time experience in acute care hospital.)   Must be knowledgeable of the nursing process and its application to patient care.
4. Skills:   Demonstrates competency in clinical skills appropriate to specialty/licensure.
5. Physical Effort:   Refer to Physical Demands form. 
   
   Monday-Friday day shift with occasional weekends as needed.
