Job Description:
Responsible for proper preparation of food served to patients and to employees and visitors including three daily meals and special functions. Coordinates overall preparation and presentation of food, while maintaining quality standards. Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction. Provides strong leadership and fosters development and mentoring of culinary staff. Responsible for controlling inventory and food costs. Supervises up to 15 FTE's kitchen staff. Develop and design menus and recipes for patients and visitors.  Develop culinary special events and theme days. Shall have authority and responsibility to ensure all costs and expenses are monitored and within approved budgets. Has the authority to develop standards of performance and service, evaluate, and make recommendations for action plans. To contract with vendors where appropriate for services needed and to authorize payment to these vendors.  Has the authority to hire, promote, terminate and demote departmental employees within the guidelines established by the hospital. Has the authority to conduct investigations of all accidents, crimes, and incidents occurring within the jurisdiction of the Security Department. This includes interviewing, collecting information, writing and filing reports and consulting with law enforcement agencies when appropriate. Has the authority to summarily dismiss employees for severe breaches in hospital policy pending a full investigation of such incidents. Has the requisite authority required to accomplish the objectives set forth in the department's Provision of Service Plan and to accomplish the following specific responsibilities: 
 

Qualifications:
Degree preferred in culinary arts or four or more years experience in food production management. Minimum of five (5) years of food preparation, service and supervisory experience. ACF (CEC) certification preferred. Food service handler’s certification and knowledge of HACCP standards. Skilled in menu development within budgeted food costs. Knowledge in plating and presentation.
