At the hub of the system's six-hospital network is Caritas St. Elizabeth's Medical Center of Boston, a tertiary academic teaching hospital affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine. The other acute care hospitals in Massachusetts are Caritas Carney Hospital, Dorchester; Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton; Caritas Holy Family Hospital and Medical Center, Methuen; Caritas Norwood Hospital, Norwood; and Saint Anne's Hospital, Fall River.
Non-acute Caritas Christi facilities, which provide social, educational or health care services, include Caritas Home Care, Caritas Good Samaritan Hospice, Caritas Labouré College, Caritas St. Mary's Women and Children's Center and Por Cristo, an international volunteer medical services organization.

Job Description:
Accurately code, abstract and input medical records data within set department standards. Code inpatient visits with the ICD-9-CM utilizing 3M encoder features to full capacity (grouper/editor, optimizing and re-sequencing features). Code outpatient encounters (Emergency room, Surgical Day Care, Minor Ops, Diagnostic Radiology, Endoscopy etc.) Utilizing ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding principles. Assess documentation in the chart to assure that it is adequate and appropriate to support the diagnoses and procedural codes selected. Responsible for knowledge of coding policies and procedures; both Medical Center and AHA approved. Perform miscellaneous coding responsibilities, including: Copy face sheets for complications for Chief of Surgery, Insert Tumor Registry forms for Oncology charts, Track charts to appropriate locations as moved/received Leave records for Coding Validation from DRG focus list as well as Blue Cross Records. Accurately handle changes in the Meditech abstracting software.
Qualifications:
Good understanding of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, Evaluation and Management coding conventions and guidelines, 3M encoder and Meditech abstracting software. Strong medical terminology, anatomy & physiology background required. Coding experience in an acute hospital setting. RHIA or RHIT and/or CCS certified.
