Become a Medical service apprentice:

The Air Force aerospace medical service apprentice plays an important role in the health and well-being of personnel. This specialist is primarily responsible for performing technical nursing tasks for the care and treatment of patients. Duties include:

  • Feeding, bathing and moving patients
  • Assembling, operating and maintaining medical equipment
  • Administrating medications
  • Driving an ambulance
  • Obtaining samples for testing
  • Performing general administrative work

Nearly every Air Force enlisted soldier undergoes six weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Air Force activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization.

  • Be interested in nursing
  • Be able to use the necessary tools
  • Have some computer skills
